Rock isn't dead. This seemingly commonplace statement accurately summarizes Olivier Lorquin's new album. Composed of 10 tracks, “La drôle de route” echoes the classics of the genre, without falling into clichés.
Today at the head of the Musée Maillol, Olivier Lorquin, who had released several albums with WEA and CBS with the Marseille band La Connection Marseillaise and enlisted Frank Margerin for the album covers, returns to his passion for music. Accompanied by his long-time companions, Olivier Kowalski, Frank Margerin, Claude Gassian, and joined by a significant new recruit, Yan Péchin, Bashung's guitarist, he recorded an opus that is both modern and infused with his lifelong musical loves (Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran). Alternating between energetic tracks and romantic ballads, this transgenerational album is a true ode to rock.
