With each new album, Léonard Lasry traces the outlines of his musical universe. Through a palette of 16 songs, the journey is eventful, as if punctuated by different states of mind.
"Au hasard cet espoir" is, as its name suggests, geared towards a solar, positive and optimistic energy of existence. The songs go straight to the point and deliver their message without ambiguity. Built around melodies he composes on the piano, Léonard makes his favorite instrument the central piece of an orchestral pop in the great tradition of 70s variety.
Léonard nurtures the same passion for the discographies of Elton John or The Divine Comedy, but also for the treasures of Italian variety as much as those of Julien Clerc, one of his most precious references when it comes to evoking French heritage. His choruses are often cheerful "We kiss no matter what we do / life often overwhelms us" ("A faire comme si"), "We will still love / The satin of our hands / The caress of our bodies / This sudden shiver" ("Avant de me faire oublier"). It is often about body, flesh, desire and quite simply love. Great loves in particular. "Uncertain memory keeps in its strongboxes the oldest 'I love you' and all its wrongs," he sings in "Je m'en rappelle à peine" simply accompanied by two guitars. Composed between Paris and the Amalfi coast, the melodies of the album's 16 songs captivate
their listener with evidence and romanticism. "There is something very Latin in this album, whether by its themes, its aestheticism, certainly influenced also by Italy, where a large part of the melodies were composed."
