The eminent producer and composer Pouvoir Magique makes a remarkable entry on the Jarring Effects label with his very first solo album, Cycles, which resembles an auditory feature film. Pouvoir Magique
Certainly a first solo album, but an artist more than familiar with the music industry. As a founding member of the renowned label and collective Mawimbi, as well as Musiques des Sphères, Pouvoir Magique has been making his mark on the French music scene for many years now. Initially a duo and now a solo project, Pouvoir Magique already has several releases to his credit. His talent also extends to collaborations with esteemed artists such as Fakear, Clozee, Flavia Coelho, Dope Saint Jude, Lazy Flow, Palais Vert, and notable remixes of Major Lazer, Oumou Sangaré, Calypso Rose, Flavia Coelho, and Pongo.
After several years spent touring the biggest clubs and festivals in France, as well as Reunion Island and the Maghreb, this young music producer, who also directs all his music videos, has now settled in his native Burgundy. It is from there that he unveils his first solo album Cycles, accompanied by a most original live show.
The album Cycles
The album Cycles depicts the hero's journey, an archetype found in ancient mythological tales as well as contemporary cinematic productions. This musical exploration is presented as a metaphor, evoking the initiatory path that each individual can undertake during their life. It is a quest both personal and universal, a search for self and fulfillment.
The album opens with the initiatory state, symbolized by childish innocence. The first tracks are joyful, melodic, and the childish voices create an atmosphere imbued with innocence. Then, the ambiance evolves towards darker and more epic sounds, representing the hero going through trials and confronting obscure forces. The album is punctuated with calmer, brighter, and less percussive tracks symbolizing the last stage of the cycle: rebirth and the hero's appeasement. Conceived around "Jungian" thought, the journey necessary to encounter our shadows transpires throughout the album. An opus that invites letting go, reminding us that light and shadow are inseparable.
