Rock isn't dead. This statement, commonplace at first glance, accurately summarizes Olivier Lorquin's new album. Comprising 10 tracks, "La drôle de route" echoes the classics of the genre without falling into cliché.
Currently at the helm of the Musée Maillol, Olivier Lorquin, who had released several albums with WEA and CBS with the Marseille-based band La Connection Marseillaise and enlisted Frank Margerin for the album covers, returns to his passion for music. Accompanied by his long-time companions, Olivier Kowalski, Frank Margerin, Claude Gassian, and joined by a significant new recruit, Yan Péchin, guitarist for Bashung, he records an opus that is both modern and infused with his lifelong musical loves (Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran). Alternating between energetic tracks and romantic ballads, this intergenerational album is a true ode to rock.
