After her duo debut (with the band Cinema) and a critically acclaimed first solo album, Cannibale (2018), Calypso Valois toured all over France and worked on various creative projects, including in cinema and behind the decks, where she has been a DJ for several years. She had just immersed herself in what would become her second album when the pandemic interrupted her. Baroque melodies, polished lyrics, elegant production. The latter is provided by Yan Wagner, who had already worked on Cannibale. For the mix, Calypso very early on called upon Yuksek, convinced that he was THE person who should mix this record. Her intuition was right: he fully deployed the scope of the 10 tracks of APOCALYPSO. "Frontal," as Calypso envisioned it, who embraces placing her voice at the heart of her ultra-accomplished compositions and writing that she embodies more than ever. Shaped by an uncompromising and profoundly exciting total romanticism, Calypso Valois' magnetic pop is as memorable as it is allergic to trends.
