After their first EP Hawa, Zar Electrik are preparing KOYO Bo Ganga, their first album co-produced by Jarring Effects and Lamastrock, scheduled for release next spring. The first two singles, Babord and Sahrane lile, are already available.
Babord: exile, hope and resilience
Babord is a poignant single that tells the odyssey of an immigrant between Africa and Marseille, a symbol of exile, hope and resilience. On a raging sea, the character navigates between nostalgia for an abandoned world and the reality of a new life. An invitation to reflect on the meanderings of the diaspora and the quest for identity, where each note is a star illuminating the path to the future.
Sahrane lile: the enchanting journey of an insomniac
Sahrane lile is a festive, narrative and introspective track that tells the story of an insomniac who rethinks his life, his struggles and his encounters with night owls. A captivating journey between Gnawa trances, guembri, oud, electric kora and electronic machines.
Zar Electrik is a trio from Marseille, activists of the Mediterranean scene. Anass Zine's captivating voice with Maghrebi influences, accompanied by his traditional instruments such as the oud and gumbri, subtly blends with Arthur Péneau's deep voice. The latter introduces his hybrid African influences through his kora, which he mystifies with electric effects. Composer and producer Did Miosine sublimates the whole. He brings his knowledge and mastery of machines, synthesizers and the codes of electronic music. The synthesis is explosive. The three of them create rich and generous music, a crossing between the Maghreb, Sub-Saharan Africa and the West.
After the success of their first Hawa, which brought together six tracks under the sign of festive communion, the group unveils the first excerpt from their next album.
