The world is divided into two categories: Like the keffiyeh, dear to the Greek, there are those who have Il Buio and those who do not. Hence the question: Have you got Il Buio? Some time ago, around 2007, "Chloé Mons feat. Xavier Boussiron" toiled over Vince Taylor in a barn in the Avesnois countryside, soaked by the pouring August rain. Already, we're not betting a penny on nostalgia. Too much gear to consider, and you have to know how to travel light. The only thing never to neglect is innocence, mother of all suspense. Bo Diddley remarked: "You can't judge a book by its cover." To which one might retort: "But you can judge a song by its cover." C. Mons and X. Boussiron reunited in early 2012. Reuniting around a bundle of precious "repertoire" wood where a parade of hits intertwines like a nest of small snakes. Chloé launched the idea of recording a covers album. In the register of this motel of memory, a sentimental compendium, we find the names of Peggy Lee, Patsy Cline, Bo "Originator" Diddley, Adriano "Hurlatore" Celentano, Charlie Feathers — the aptly named, Chris Isaac, among others… and of course, Adamo who has the immense privilege of singing on "La Notte."
Il Buio is the obscure wonder that blows on the distant peaks of lonely hearts. The most mysterious thing is what we love instinctively. The songs on this album are part of that thing.
At one point, Adriano Celentano says: "Hey guys, why aren't you laughing anymore?"
Record players can now loosen their sapphire teeth. Then embrace Il Buio by Chloé Mons and Xavier Boussiron.
